JulieJulie London (nee Peck) was an American performer and actress with a career that spanned 40 years. A torch singer renowned for her gorgeous, sultry contralto voice, London recorded over thirty albums of pop and jazz standards between 1955 until 1969. Inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2001, she recorded "Cry me a river", a track that she had introduced to her debut album. London was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for her character in the role of Dixie McCall, a nurse on Emergency! Born in Santa Rosa, California, to vaudevillian parents, London was discovered while working as an elevator operator in downtown Los Angeles, and she started her career as an actress. London's career as an actor lasted 35 years. in film in 1944, which included roles for female leads in a variety of westerns. She also starred alongside Rock Hudson in The Fat Man (1951) as well as Robert Taylor and John Cassavetes in Saddle the Wind (1958) along with Gary Cooper in Man of the West (1958) and alongside Robert Mitchum in The Wonderful Country (1959). In the mid-50s she signed a recording agreement with Liberty Records. This was the beginning of her professional career. In 1969 she released her last studio album. But she was prominent in the emergency series as Dixie McCall, a female nurse. (1972-1979) where she appeared alongside her husband Bobby Troup. Jack Webb, her ex-husband who produced the show.
