Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington has been a Greek American columnist, author and entrepreneur for more than twenty years. She is the author of fifteen books, and she is co-founder of The Huffington Post. Arianna Huffington is an actor, journalist, philanthropist and author for more than ten years. Her role also includes being the proprietor of The Huffington Post, an free-of-cost online news magazine. Born in Greece Arianna Huffington immigrated to England with her family at age 16. In Cambridge University she earned a MA degree in Economics. The first non-English student to graduate, she was elected President of The Cambridge Union' at age 21. When she graduated, she made her name as columnist in the conservative syndicated media as well as with the introduction of The Huffington Post' few years later, she developed an online voice portal which provided critical views on the political scenario. It was possible for her to recruit many prominent contributors to share their thoughts about politics and culture. Arianna became famous after she was elected as an independent in the California recall elections to replace Governor Davis. She was also involved in a Detroit-based project that promoted fuel-efficient automobiles. Forbes listed her 12th in its top 10 list of Most influential women in the media. Guardian also included the HuffingtonPost in their Top 100 list in the year 2010. AOL Inc. bought The Huffington Post, and she became president of the media company. This included many AOL properties at the time such as Engadget AOL style list and Patch Media. She was born to a journalist and management consultant Konstantinos and his wife Elli Stasinopoulos. She was extremely close to her father, but it was her relationship with her mother who formed her. From her early years, she demonstrated leadership skills that are still highly regarded. at the age of 16 she moved into the United Kingdom to pursue her study and then enrolled at Girton College Cambridge. In her college years she joined the Cambridge Union debating group where she rose to become the first female president and only president from outside the country. She graduated in 1972 with an MA in Economics. She was a journalist, a TV host and columnist upon her graduation. In addition, along with Bernard Levin she appeared on an episode of Face the music.
